01 · Context

Working within an existing system

A car rental platform connects several related workflows, including vehicle administration, customer bookings, and operational tasks. Changes in one area can depend on existing APIs, data structures, permissions, and behaviour elsewhere in the system.

My internship has involved contributing to selected interfaces and workflows within this shared codebase. The platform is team built, and architecture or system wide outcomes are not claimed as my sole work.

02 · Contributions

Areas I have worked on

01

Vehicle administration

Contributed to the admin vehicle listing workflow and vehicle onboarding interfaces, helping staff manage vehicle information through the platform.

02

Booking workflows

Worked on booking lists and details, customer booking information, and related frontend to API integration.

03

Vehicle-return inspections

Contributed to inspection related interfaces used in the vehicle return workflow, connecting operational tasks with the wider rental process.

04

Operational tools

Worked on rider schedules, attendance reporting, and CSV export functionality to support administrative operations.

05

Integration and reliability

Worked with backend for frontend APIs and supporting services, investigated implementation issues, and used type checking and build checks during development.

03 · Engineering approach

Understand before changing

Working in an established codebase means learning how components, API contracts, and existing workflows fit together before making changes. My approach is to inspect the relevant implementation, make focused changes, and run the checks available for the affected work.

This experience is helping me strengthen my debugging, integration, and collaboration skills while learning to deliver changes without unnecessarily disrupting other parts of a system.

04 · Evidence

Respecting team ownership

This page describes my contributions at a high level. Private source code, internal system details, and screenshots are not published here. Any future project imagery or more detailed technical evidence will be included only when permission has been confirmed.

More work

An independent product challenge

DoLocal is my separate, Botswana-focused service marketplace project, where I explore product decisions and application workflows independently.
